Dr. Kaye Dotson will present the workshop “Putting Traditional Play Back into Practice for Children: Engage, Learn, Play.” The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 28, followed by a field trip to ECU Community School for hands-on activities with the children. Cost is $50, with $25 being donated to the NC DKG Educational Foundation. Participants will receive a copy of Dr. Dotson’s book and may earn one CEU.

An afternoon bus tour of East Carolina University will give attendees a view of West and Main Campuses and include a visit to the ECU Community School to visit there and meet with the principal about the research and technology used in the school. Cost is $10.

Self-guided tour of “Uptown Greenville” using a provided map will allow you to visit various museums, shops, and restaurants on Friday and during your stay. Convention Chair Dr. Phyllis Broughton and the Convention Planning Committee will be happy to answer questions about the three pre-convention options.

Schedule at a Glance

Spring Convention Project:
The 2023 NC DKG Convention Project is collecting food and monetary funds for the Food Bank of the Albemarle located in Elizabeth City. The Food Bank of the Albemarle helps fight hunger and poverty in northeast NC, serving Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington counties. The Food Bank is collecting canned items such as meats, proteins, vegetables, fruits and soups; dry goods such as pasta, cereal, rice and dried beans. In addition to food items, toiletries, personal hygiene items, toilet tissue, and laundry soap are very much needed to help families. These are necessary essentials that they cannot obtain with food stamp benefits. There will be a table set up at the convention for items to be donated. More information can be found at https://afoodbank.org/.
