First, I was ‘hooked’ by that little 3 X 6” card delicately written by a fellow teacher across the county whom I knew and admired. And I did love being a member, interacting with other key teachers from my school system as well as from across North Carolina, attending conferences and conventions, and learning about this international fellowship, and being able to make new friends. From that handwritten invitation welcoming me to new experiences with others of my chosen profession to becoming immersed in the society and its work, I have grown immeasurably as a person and professional. As a member, I have felt ‘chosen’, ‘worthy’, ‘selected’, ‘invited’ and ‘welcomed’.”
